English as the Language of Instruction at Victory
At Victory School, we believe in the transformative power of early exposure to a second language. Our innovative approach prepares students to become competent global citizens by balancing academic excellence with the holistic development of each child.
Introduction to Dual-Language Education at VIS
Educational strategies by age group
Children aged 2 and 3:
We implement the "one person, one language" (OPOL) system. Each educator communicates exclusively in either (English or Portuguese), providing natural and consistent exposure to both languages from an early age.
Children aged 4 and 5:
For our preschoolers, we offer full English immersion, allowing them to become deeply familiar with the language. Portuguese is introduced during the literacy phase, ensuring fluency and competence in both
languages.
Literacy Methods
Bilingual & Phonics-Based:
We use the phonics method to teach children how to read and write in both English and Portuguese. This method, focused on letter sounds and word formation, facilitates an integrated and natural learning experience in both languages.
Specialist-Led Classes
Physical Education and Music Classes
All children participate in Physical Education and Music classes, taught in English and included in the tuition at no additional cost. These classes are designed to enrich the educational experience, promoting both physical well-being and cultural development.
Martial Arts and Ballet:
Boys attend Martial Arts classes and girls attend Ballet, both conducted in English. These activities are integrated into the school schedule, reinforcing language immersion while fostering physical skills, discipline, and artistic expression.
At Victory School, every aspect of our bilingual program is thoughtfully designed to develop language proficiency, intellectual growth, physical development, and social skills. We prepare our students to face the world with confidence, linguistic fluency, and a global perspective.
